The specific surface area of carbon nanofibers varies due to different preparation methods, raw materials, process parameters and other factors, generally between 20 to 2600m²/g, the following are some common specific surface area ranges and corresponding examples:
20 ~ 500m²/g: vapor-grown carbon nanofibers prepared by chemical vapor deposition, without special treatment, the specific surface area is usually in this range. Such as the use of chemical vapor deposition method of 50 ~ 200nm of gas phase growth nanocarbon fiber, its specific surface area is 20 ~ 2500m²/g, with CO₂ as an agent, hole temperature is 480℃, the specific surface area of the nanocarbon fiber material after hole is 500m²/g.
500 ~ 1500m²/g: Physical or chemical treatment of carbon nanofibers can significantly improve their specific surface area. For example, the use of gas method or chemistry to make holes in the vapor phase growth of nanocarbon fiber, its specific surface area can reach 500 ~ 2500m²/g, after subsequent treatment, the prepared graphene powder has a specific surface area of 20 ~ 1500m²/g.
1500 ~ 2600m²/g: Using a special preparation process or composite method, the specific surface area of nanocarbon fiber can be further increased. For example, polyacrylonitrile-based carbon nanofibers are combined with graphene, and its specific surface area can reach 1800m²/g ~ 2600m²/g
