The 3DG material was prepared by growing vertical graphene on the surface of natural graphene particles. It has outstanding lithium storage capacity and specific capacity much higher than the theoretical capacity of graphite. It has specifically excellent rate capability which makes it excellent anode material for high capacity rapid-charging. Its specific capacity remained high up to 516 mAh/g after 100 cycles at a current density of 0.2 C. This index remained at 105 mAh/g after 3000 cycles at a current density of 5 C. The full cell has an energy density high up to 434 Wh/kg at 0.1 C. It can reach 300 Wh/kg energy density after charging at 4 C rate for 10 min which enables it to be a new anode material with promising application prospect.
